Aaron Bateman is an Assistant Professor of History and International Affairs at George Washington University, with a background in U.S. Air Force intelligence and a research focus on space security and international relations.
At Rymdforum 2025, he will present insights from his acclaimed book, Weapons in Space: Technology, Politics and the Rise and Fall of the Strategic Defense Initiative. Drawing on newly declassified sources, the book explores how space-based missile defense shaped Cold War diplomacy and continues to influence today’s space security debates.
With his deep knowledge of the political and technological dimensions of space militarization, Bateman offers a unique and timely perspective on one of the most pressing issues in modern space policy.
